The Village of Grayslake's Fast Track Permitting Process is a unique system designed to provide clients with up front information on village codes, procedures, expectations, specifications and forms with the goal of completing the non-residential permitting process in 40 calendar days. This process is designed to give clients a sense of what is required, make the permit process easier, facilitate communication throughout the process and turn around the permit process in a shorter timeframe.
The Fast Track Diagram outlines the suggested timeframe, meetings, and what is required at each meeting. The Submittal Checklist specifies the documents required to complete this process. Please follow these as a guide through the process.
Complete applications must include all documents specified in the Submittal Checklist, which may include the following Village of Grayslake, Lake County and Illinois Environmental Protection Agency applications that pertain to your submission. Either fill these applications electronically, or print and write in the information. Adobe Acrobat Standard is required to save completed documents. Please print completed forms for your records.
These documents should provide sufficient background information to correctly complete all necessary documents. While this information is generally accurate village codes procedures, expectations and specifications periodically change. Please confirm with the Building Department that this information is accurate.

The Route 83 Corridor study is intended to provide a framework for the physical and functional enhancement of the Route 83 corridor. This initiative is consistent with other enhancement initiatives currently underway in the Village, such as downtown streetscape enhancement and regional bike path planning/construction. The project area extends from Shorewood Road to the north, approximately Route 137 to the south and includes important connections to downtown and surrounding neighborhoods at Center Street, Lake Street, Washington Street and Route 120. The objective of this document is to illustrate unified corridor enhancement strategies and policies in order to guide new development, the improvement of the existing businesses and public right-of-ways.
The purpose of this plan is to provide a framework that encourages continued growth that blends with and enhances the existing businesses. This plan accomplishes those goals by establishing the streetscape, signage, employee amenities and architectural standards of a high end business park, recommending uses for undeveloped properties and potential redevelopment sites and describing how to achieve positive economic return within the Corridor.
