The U.S. Census is a count of every resident in the United States and is a requirement by the Constitution to occur once every 10 years.
The information collected from the Census is used by the federal government to determine the number of seats each state will occupy in the U.S. House of Representatives, in addition to how over $400 billion in federal funding will be allocated to different infrastructure projects and services.
The Census forms will be mailed out in March 2010 to each household in the United States. The Census form is only 10 short questions. After completing the Census form, residents should mail back their form in the pre-paid envelope provided. The U.S. Census Bureau must submit state population totals to the President of the United States by December 31, 2010.
