Do I need a business license?
All businesses in the Village of Grayslake, including home based businesses, are required by Village Code Chapter 5 to apply for a Business License before opening. Business Licenses are valid from May 1 through April 30 of each year. Failure to obtain the required Business License can result in enforcement actions by the Village, including a fine up to $500.00 and/or suspension of business activity.

What other fees or licenses am I required to obtain in addition to a business license?
Music Device: $50.00 per machine, per year
Amusement Devices: $100.00 for each license address AND $50.00 per machine, per year
Vending Machine: $25.00 per machine per year

Yes, you still need to obtain a business license.

How and when do I renew my current business license?
All business licenses expire on April 30 of each year and are valid from May 1 through April 30. Renewal certificates are mailed every March to every business license holder. Please call Village Hall at (847) 223-8515 if you did not receive a renewal certificate or
you may click here to obtain a copy.
