Economic Development Programs
Large Facade Grants:
Purpose: To encourage a major, complete and comprehensive rehabilitation and renovation of the architectural aspects and features of the front facade of existing buildings in accordance with the adopted Village plans. Applicants in the downtown area will design their facades to come as close as possible to the historic character of the downtown area.
Eligibility: Any existing or new business or business property owner that fronts right-of-ways who wish to enhance the exterior of their building in accordance with approved business district plans using commercial design standards adopted by the Village of Grayslake. All submitted drawings require acceptable architectural plans. All buildings will be at least ten years old.
Incentive: Front facade improvements with a minimum investment of $10,000 are eligible for 50% of the cost of improvement up to a maximum grant of $20,000 per building. Up to $500 of the grant can be given for reimbursement of acceptable architectural plans associated with the application drawings.
Total Amount Available: $90,000.
Small Improvement Grants:
Purpose: To encourage improvements to landscaping, signage, awnings and antique lighting in accordance with the commercial design standards and adopted plans of the Village of Grayslake.
Eligibility: Any existing business or business property owner that fronts right-of-ways, approved by the Economic Development Commission, who wishes to enhance the exterior of their building using commercial design standards adopted by the Village of Grayslake for antique lighting, signage, landscaping and awnings. All submitted drawings require acceptable architectural plans. All buildings must be at least ten years old.
Incentive: Improvements between $5,000 and $10,000 are eligible for 50% of the cost of improvement up to a maximum grant of $5,000 per building.
Total Amount Available: $15,000.
